Alegria Dance Company
Alegria is a company of fine dancers who have
dedicated their time and energy to an art form they love. Under the direction
of Rosana Maya who teaches, choreographs and dances alongside the semi-professional
artists, Alegria is a Spanish Dance Company who enjoys all forms of dance.
Having trained in Classical Ballet, Contemporary Flamenco and Folk, and
in true 21st Century global fusion style, Rosana encourages the Company
to appreciate and express dance in all these forms. Besides presenting
full scale productions, Alegria Dance Company are frequently invited to
perform in Theatre, Gala, Cabaret and festivals, television and film and
have a prolific repertoire earning then an esteemed reputation in the
arts.
Alegria Dance Company was established in 1999
after training under the tutorship of Rosana Maya and many guest artists
and teachers of various art forms from Jazz, Contemporary, Belly Dance
(Klara Brasil), Classical Ballet (Nicola Henson) and Flamenco (Enrique
Pantoja, Jose Merino, Javier Baga, Jose ‘El Tremendo’, Carlos
Bain, Francesca Grima) within Alegria Academia Flamenca. Otherwise the
dancers individually tour abroad and study with notable maestros of dance.
